Harold Ford Jr. Will Address Record Number of Graduates

WHAT: Chairman of the Democratic Leadership Council and former Tennessee Congressman Harold Ford Jr. will address a record number of graduates at the University of Massachusetts Lowell’s commencement. Around 2,200 students are expected to receive bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees at the Tsongas Arena.
The University is also honoring four outstanding individuals with honorary doctoral degrees, including: Bernard Amadei, founder of Engineers without Borders; George Duncan, chairman of Enterprise Bank; Chaz Maviyane-Davies, a professor and artist whose posters make powerful visual statements on social issues; and Robert Pozen, chairman of MFS Investments and a former Fidelity Investments top executive.
Kathleen Beaumont Allen, ’77, who served as corporate vice president and chief financial officer of Billerica-based Millipore Corp. until her retirement in 2008, will receive the University’s Distinguished Alumni Award.
