LOWELL - What do the courses "C #" (C Sharp) and "Women in 20th Century Music" have in common? Surprisingly, neither are music courses, but both are offered this fall through the University of Massachusetts Lowell's Division of Continuing Studies. "C #" joins the more than 60 information technology courses offered each semester. "Women in 20th Century Music" is part of the new Interdisciplinary Studies Department coursework and is available online.
Other new courses for fall on campus and online include "Nazi Germany," "Literature, Politics and Genocide in Cambodia," "Linux System Administration" and "Mobile Communication."
The latest online programs include a master's degree in Educational Administration and three master's certificates. Nearly 100 courses are offered each semester that can be applied to 15 online certificate and degree programs. UMass Lowell online learning, one of the largest online programs in New England, allows students to earn a degree or certificate from their home or office computers at their convenience using the web, email, online chat and other Internet-based resources.
The fall semester begins September 3 with registration through August 28. Late registration is available for a $50 fee until classes begin. An Open House and General Registration will be held Tuesday, August 20 at 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. in Southwick Hall on North Campus. Information on degree and certificate programs, financial aid and advising will be available, as well as a distance education demonstrations and new student orientation.
The UMass Lowell Division of Continuing Studies and Corporate Education is one of the largest continuing education programs in New England, overseeing the evening and summer schools of the University.
