The University of Massachusetts at Lowell, fresh off its most successful year in athletic history, placed 35 student-athletes on the Northeast-10 Conference 2005-'06 Commissioner's Honor Roll. A dozen student-athletes were named to the Gold Scholar List (top 5 percent in grade-point average), another 12 to the Silver Scholar List (top 6-10 percent) and 11 more to the Bronze Scholar List (top 11-15 percent).

Among the 35 named was senior Karen Cloutier (Gold Scholar) of Gilbertville, who was being honored for the fourth time, and three-time honorees Katie Harrington (Gold Scholar) of Rochester, N.H.; Courtney Curran (Silver Scholar) of Wakefield; and Shanna Kornachuk (Bronze Scholar) of Danvers. In a landmark athletic year, 12 of UMass-Lowell's 15 Division 2 teams advanced to NCAA tournaments. UMass-Lowell finished the year a best-ever 11th in the US Sports Academy Directors' Cup standings, the highest among any school in the Northeast-10 Conference and Northeast Region.

Among the Gold Scholars were Bridgette Hooker of Belmont, N.H.; Julie Brodie of Chelmsford; John Drinkwater of Tewksbury; and Bryan Koenig of Reading. Among the Silver Scholars were Kristina Martell and Katelyn Campopiano of Chelmsford; Graeme Clohosey of Derry, N.H.; and Diana Blanchette of Methuen.
