Three Online Graduate Programs Launched by UMass Lowell

Lowell - A master's degree in educational administration and two graduate certificates in clinical pathology and photonics & optoelectronics will be the first three graduate programs offered completely online in September at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. The Master's of Education in Educational Administration is offered in collaboration with the UMass Lowell Graduate School of Education to prepare teachers using a mix of online courses and field experience to advance their careers to director, principal, and superintendent roles. Courses include Principalship K-12, Theory and Research in Curriculum, and Practicum in School Leadership.

The four-course graduate certificate in Clinical Pathology provides laboratory personnel, nurses, and other medical professionals the opportunity to expand and update their knowledge in laboratory medicine. The certificate consists of two core courses and two electives.

A knowledge of optics is valued in many diverse fields ranging from communications to medicine. The Photonics & Optoelectronics graduate certificate provides a fundamental overview of electro-optics and fiber optics in data rates and the opportunity to specialize in fiber optics, medical optics, device physics, and remote sensing/image processing. Students must complete one required course and choose three electives.

A free CyberEd orientation will be held Tuesday, August 21 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. in Southwick Hall, One University Avenue. Students may register for Fall classes through August 29. Classes begin September 4.
