Proofpoint - UMass Lowell Spam Catcher


Effective August 5, 2011, UMass Lowell Office of Information Technology will be migrating to a new e-mail SPAM filtering application called Proofpoint. This upgrade will offer UMass Lowell e-mail users many improvements over the existing platform, such as:

  • The ability to create your own “Safe List,” which will allow you to prevent certain senders from being filtered for you, or a “Block List,” which will catch all e-mail sent to you from that sender.
  • Substantially better protection and security against both SPAM and phishing emails.
  • Both a vastly improved user interface for your daily SPAM digest, and more configurable delivery options. 
  • A very easy to use self-service web portal that will let you manage your user experience. 
During this upgrade, you should not notice any effects other than slight delays in e-mail delivery of less than ten minutes around 10 a.m. on August 5, 2011. 


If you have any e-mail messages in your old quarantine that you wish to move to your inbox, you will still be able to release them until September 5, 2011. If you have not released them after that time, they will be deleted.
