Emerging Technologies and Innovation Center Grand Opening to be Held Oct. 11

The opening of the Emerging Technologies and Innovation Center (ETIC) will mark the beginning of new scientific discovery and ground-breaking research at UMass Lowell.

The ETIC houses cutting-edge programs in nanomedicine, nanomanufacturing, plastics and elastomers, clean-room technologies, biomaterials development and more. These are fast-developing fields with growing career prospects and promising industry partnership opportunities. 

Chancellor Marty Meehan and the UMass Lowell community will celebrate the opening of the 84,000-square-foot, $80 million new research and development facility Thursday, Oct. 11 on the grounds of the ETIC Corner of University Avenue and VFW Highway. 

Remarks and a ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m. with the Chancellor, the Lowell State House delegation and other UMass, industry and government officials. Light lunch and tours will follow at 12:30 p.m.
