The Urban Massachusetts Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation 

NSF-logoThe Urban Massachusetts Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (UMLSAMP) grant program is funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF). The mission of UMLSAMP is to significantly increase the number of minority students whom successfully complete high-quality degree programs in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.

UMLSAMP Scholars

During the spring and fall semesters, selected students work on-campus along with UMass Lowell faculty on STEM-related research.  These are paid internships, if the student meets the criteria of the project.

UMLSAMP scholar requirements are as follow:

  • Student must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Enrolled or show intention of enrollment at one of the alliance institutions
  • Show continuous involvement in LSAMP and other STEM development
  • Special consideration will be given to underrepresented minority groups, as governed by the plan document.
